I have an LCD monitor. Can I use my LCD Samsung TV instead? Both have a 15 pin VGA sockets.I was told (Not by an expert) that all I need is a long VGA cable.

    Could you please advise me?.

Yep, no problem. Make sure TV is set to its native resolution and it should recognize PC input. Also set the correct image size on you AV input on the TV (like AV3 for VGA input socket, or whatever)

Meaning if VGA input is on AV3 (or whatever) on your TV, set the image size on that (usually you can choose between full fill and half fill)
