A recent scan by Yahoo Anti Spy detected a BHO called Twain-Tech. I was able to determine that it is associated with freeware and used to target ads. The scan did not reveal which freeware program it came with it only showed the registry entry. Is there any way to determine which freeware program I have brought it in to my system. Thanks Alan

Hello, tobmanp. Welcome to the forums

    Please download 'Hijack This!'. http://spywarewarrior.com/files/HijackThis.exe
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Save the log, and copy its contents here(might need more than one post). Most of what it lists will be harmless or essential, don't fix anything yet.

I keep my system very clean and I had the Yahoo scan find that suddenly today, too. I haven't loaded any new software and no new updates and I just scanned it yesterday and it didn't find it then so I'm starting to believe it's detecting it by mistake. Also, like your's, my system had none of the known components of that spyware either just the one registry key. Plus Spybot and Adaware didn't even find it.
