I have three systems to play with and when saving pictures on two of the three the ext defaults to jpg. in the third system the default is to save it as bmp with no choice to change to jpg. This does not happen on every web site however why is it happening at all. Sybot and Ad-Aware come up clean. is there a parameter that I have changed?

Windows 98, the picture is displayed by IE as normal then Left click to save or use the image tool bar. Save picture window opens at the bottom has file name and under that file type, set to mbp with no other choice.

Saving as .bmp only is a known problem with Internet Explorer and usually emptying the cache fixes it. (Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Delete Files button...check the box to delete all offline content, too).

Well King, this case is closed.
Deleting the old temporary internet files resolved the situation, thank you very much.
It was mentioned that this was a common known Win98 problem, would there be a place to get listings of these 'common' problems. None of the ' pros' here had a clue.

I really appreciate the assistance, Thank you all again.

Regards
Rick
