Using Vista Home Premium 32 bit on new Toshiba Laptop - P105-S6197, Core 2 Duo processor, T5200 1.60 GHz, 2048MB Memory Size. Has anybody experienced a typing delay from the time you type the words to the time it appears on the screen? This has occured on my new laptop. Never a problem on my 2 yr old Sony desktop (Windows XP Media Center) or Sony laptop (Windows 98SE).

No, but i can probably tell you that the problem is the 1.60GHz processor. You will probably need atleast 1.80GHz to 2.00GHz clock speed.

Your laptop has plenty of CPU power and ram. What other programs are running in the background when this happened? If for instance your antivirus program was doing a hard drive scan at the same time that would cause a delay in typing. Open the windows task manager, "Control ALT Delete" to see what applications are running, chances are one of them is a big resource hog. You could also go to the manufacturers website and get all the latest up dates and drivers. There is nothing wrong with your laptop, it simply needs to be optimized. Best of luck to ya!

I too have a Vista typing delay and checked the running tasks but there are maybe 50 of them. How do you know what to leave and what to dump?
