Hello - I am new to Ubuntu, in fact, I was trying to install on an old, 8 years (1GB ram, Dell laptop and now all I get is a blinking cursor.

I created 2 different .iso CD's one 10.10 and the other Alternate 10.10. When I boot w/either in the drive all I get is a blinking cursor and nothing else.

This happened after I tried Ubuntu with the standard ISO. It worked and I wanted to do a full install and replace Windows. It was working but I got an error that said something wasn't being found "live" but that I should reboot, so I did and now I have nothing but the blinking cursor when I try either CD.

    Thanks for any help.

At what point does the cursor start to blink?

    Examples:
    After the POST
After the Ubuntu Logo and loading bar
After the rows of text flood the screen

And have you tried another GNU/Linux Live-CD on this system?
