    hi guys,
i have a problem with windows xp. I use (dual boot) ubuntu 13.04 as well. My monitor turns black after windows xp loads and wont show desktop. It only shows a mouse (which i can move). Ubuntu works fine. I tried safe mode but i get safe mode written in four corners and at the top my config.I tried Last known configuration too it still shows black screen. I switched to sp3 the same day(earlier). I wanna do a system restore but cannot. safe mode with command prompt also not working. plzz help . I tried ctrl+alt+del still no use.
if any more details are required i will provide it . plzzz help.:)

    Hi,

Please let me know, how did you install ububtu on the machine.

    1. Did you allocate free space after installing XP or

    2. Ubuntu is first installed and then XP or

    3. On the fresh hard disk (fully formatted) you installed XP and then in the remaining space you installed ubuntu or

    4. On the fresh hard disk (fully formatted) you installed ubuntu and then in the remaining space you installed XP ??

Please run the below command in ubuntu and provide the result.

    df -h

    Hi,

Thank you for providing the info..
The recommended procedure for installing dual boot(xp/7/8 + Ubuntu/Linux)
    >> If you are already using xp/7/8,
    >> un-allocate required space
    >> Delete the volume
    >> and install Linux/Ubuntu

In your scenario I recommend you to go for repair of XP.
