Ugg I hate this computer!!!!!!!

    hey everyone, well my sound didnt JUST disapear. My brother, thinking the smartone he is Used the Windows 98 update disk, thinking it was the whole 98 OS, to start the computer over from scratch, and he ended the installation in the middle... The computer works fine, just no sound. I DID have Windows SE installed, but now everything is windows 98...BUT I NEED MY SOUND!!!! ....can anyone figure out whats wrong??..Heres all my info:

    So, if u had 98 SE installed, then how did u get the 98 disc?
    Anyway, try updating sound card drivers, updating win 98, although this will take forever cuz is has so many bugs, which is the reason SE was released.

    You could try going into dos and typing scanreg restore/ (put a space between scanreg and restore/) and once the registory has been scanned it will give you severall restore points, try and select a date when the puter was working ok. :) If scanreg won't work in dos bootup with a boot disc and do the above.

    you need to reinstall the s/c drivers
    a upgrade disk is the same as a full install disk it just requires you to prove you are entitled to the upgrade
