I purchased my laptop in the UK (new so I thought) from Staples. I live in the US. It was allready setup and registered with microsoft. My problem is that when I search google or youtube, ect it seems to look for UK sites. I went to real player site tonight and it was looking for realplayer.com/uk. by default. The computer also has another persons name (doug Sa?) on alot of the folders. (last name masked to protect the person).
How do I reconfigure my computer to US standards? Gateway,Laptop,Winxp.

Firstly, in Control Panel, Regional and Language settings set it for your country. Also in Time, make sure the right time zone is selected.

Do not try and rename the folders, you cannot.

You need to make a new log-in with administrator priviledges in your name, that will create a new set of correctly named folders. Then transfer any needed data and delete the previous persons profile, selecting the option to delete the data associated with it.
