Running XP on an old Dell Optiflex

Recently got infected with sasser worm- was trying to remove sasser with MS provided tool but toll did not find sasser worm- now cannot boot at all past windows XP start up screen even in safe mode-
I want to try a Symantec provider sasser removal tool but cannot get past the point previously mentioned. I don’t mind reformatting ( it’s a back up home PC)

Please send all additional questions or potential solution. Thanks!

Can you get it to boot in safe mode? If so, run the tool from there. Or do a restore to an earlier date (I believe it can be done in safe mode...hmm....never tried it...lol)

Then it's time to reinstall the OS. Boot with a win98 boot/install floppy disk, fdisk and format. Now use the XP disk to put the OS back on the computer.
