    Hi,

I have a new Samsung Chromebook, and have wifi through Virginmedia with a Netgear modem router. The wifi/modem router is working (I can connect to the internet on my desktop PC), and the Chromebook says it is connected, but when I try to logon to any webpage I get the following error:

Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address

I have gone through all the suggestions the error message suggests but to no avail. I've also spoken to Virginmedia and had them test the internet connection and router and this is all fine.

I've Googled this error, and can see other posts relating to it, but can't find one that specifically answers the question for a Chromebook.

Please can anyone out there help? I'm afraid I'm not very techy, so basic language would be really appreciated!...

    Thanks

i do not know the chrome system - but there is a guided troble shooting here
    http://support.google.com/chromeos/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1257251&page=ts.cs

i will look into dns settings on chrome

is your wireless security enabled- if so login to the router and disable/turn off the security as a test

on your desktop PC thats working - can we see an ipconfig /all

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

    ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
    to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
    Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

    Hi @etaf

    Thanks for your advice.

I also registered the fault with Google support, and they have already called me to say it's a known fault and they're hoping to release an update that sorts it in the next few days. I'll wait to see if this solves it before trying what you suggest and marking this post as resolved.
