My PC recognizes the network but does not want to connect to the internet.
Other devices are connected, wifi works fine as well.
Any advise as to how to get the ethernet connection to work?

What is the ethernet's IP address? Can you really access other devices on the LAN?

I would to this and would like to ask for the full network information that you find in Details or the IPCONFIG/ALL command

All the other devices can access the internet, be it via wifi or the television which is connected via ethernet. But when I plug in the PC or laptop neither can access the internet.

What James asked for ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.
(In Windows 10 you may have to use some other procedure to get a Command Prompt window.)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

[Press ENTER after the command.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
