    Hi,
Can you give me any advice as to why my sister can't delete her emails but my wife and I can? When she tries to delete her emails she get a message in a pop up window that says.- (yellow warning triangle) "THE MESSAGE COULD NOT BE DELETED". We are all using the same computer with email accounts in outlook express but she is the only one who can't delete her emails? Any ideas or solutions would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    Wee Yano.

The messages can't be deleted from the Inbox or from the Deleted Items?

    Hi Phantom,
Just checked and it's only the inbox that wont delete. Deleted items are deleting.
Thanks for any help you can offer. Not very good with computers.
    Wee Yano.

You might have too many e-mail messages or a corrupt Inbox.

Move ALL messages from the Inbox to a new folder, then compact the Inbox.

1- With the Inbox open, click on File > Work Offline.

    2- File > Folder > Compact.

    3- Let it run.

    4- Uncheck Work Offline.

    If no luck,

Open OE and select Tools > Options... > Maintenance > Store Folder... You'll then see the path for your e-mail folders.

In there, you'll see several files with ".dbx" as the extension type. You'll need to delete the Inbox.dbx. (Your OS may be set to hide the 3 letter extensions, so it may just say "Inbox.")

If you do not see these files, check to make sure that you have the option to show hidden files and folders enabled.

So, once you've identified the Inbox.dbx file, delete it. The next time you'll start Outlook Express, it will create a new inbox file for you.

***NOTE: make sure you have saved any other e-mail messages in the inbox that you wish to keep before doing this. Make a new folder in Outlook Express (call it "Saved Messages" or something like that) and move the messages you want to keep into it.

    Hi Phantom,
Thanks for the advice, unfortunately none of the advice has worked.
    Thank you for trying.
