Unable to Download ANYTHING

    I am having trouble downloading anything. When i attempt to download a file i get the confirmation window, and the download begins. When the download finishes, i get a message that the file has been downloaded successfully. When i attempt to find the file in the target location, it simply isn't there. I have tried switching browsers, searching for file otherwise. I was even able to open target location upon download and veiw that indeed the file was present and being downloaded, but when the download completed the file disappeared. Any help would be very much appreciated. Let me know if you need more specific info. ty

    Turn off UAC.

    Go to your Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> Turn User Account Control on or off

    Thanks for the tip but still no good, the file patch is C:/user/downloads. Still gave it a shot but no change.

    Check Parental Controls from the Control Panel. Click on your account. Click on the 'Vista Web Filter' link. Make sure that the 'Block File downloads' checkbox isn't checked.

    ok so i wasn't able to change that on the account i'm using as i'm the admin, but i canged it on all other accounts. Now when attempt to download a file it regesters in firefox's download window, but it never actually tranfers any data.

    BTW tried to dl with IE and still no luck

    correction, IE will attempt the download, but no file exists during or after DL

    Try Internet Options>Security tab>Web content zone>Custom level>under Download options, make sure file download is enabled.

    Scan your system for malware. Also try online scanners.

    If still no luck, try a system restore.

    So tried int. options and no luck, so i ran a restore. I restored approx 1 month, and it worked great, able to download and all. Now that windows has run all of its up dates and caught up on the last month, i am having the same problem. Surprise surprise problems with Microsoft. Thanks a lot for all that help.:rolleyes:
