    Hi

Not sure if this is the right thread for this post.

I am unable to open "Uninstall a program" through control panel. Everytime when I try to open it, I get the following error message

"Windows cannot find '::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}...:{7B81BE6A-CE2B-4676-A29E-EB907A5126C5}' Make sure you typed the name corerctly, and then try again.

However, I can open this in safe mode. Unsure why this is the case. Have tried googling for help but none found.

    I use Win 7 64bit.
    Please help me here.
    Many thanks

To see your list of installed programs in Windows XP, go to

Control Panel - Add Or Remove Programs

To see your list of installed programs in Windows Vista and Windows 7, go to

Control Panel - Programs And Features

By "Uninstall a program" I think you mean "Programs and Features"

When did this first happen, did it coincide with any changes to the system?

Have you noticed any other problems.

Have you got another user account, if so does it have the same problem?
If you don't have another user account create one and then check if you can access "Programs and Features".

    Hi Mark

Thanks for getting back to me. It happened a couple of weeks ago. I noticed this issue when I tried to uninstall facemoods.

I do not believe there was any system change for the past couple of weeks.

I only have one account and interestingly following your instruction when I click on the link Programs and Features, it actually sends me to Uninstall a Program. Whereas, if i click on Uninstall a Program, it gives me that error message and does not go into Uninstall a Program.

Unsure why this is the case ><

    Thanks

Please send in a screen shot of your Control Panel, Windows 7 has "Programs and Features" I have never seen "Uninstall a Program" within the control panel. Please also send in a screen shot of the Programs and Features window. Something is not adding up here:confused:

Uninstall is a tab inside of Programs and Features.

As a test, can you do a system Restore point to a date before the problem was found?

There are alternatives if you need to use the function right away (or any time).

Free uninstallers that will replace the native Windows Add/Remove, and also allow removal of entries from programs that no longer exist:

Comodo Program Manager - removes programs and all remnants. Future installations are monitored so they can be completely removed, restored if uninstalled by mistake, or even restored to a new machine.
    MyUninstaller
Ashampoo Magical Uninstaller (Records changes made to system during new installations)
    Revo Uninstaller
    Fine Uninstaller
    Handy Uninstaller

I am a firm believer in Revo Uninstaller.

I can see where I was confused as you are using a different view in Control Panel to the one I am accustomed to.

Either way you go it should get you to the list of installed programs so something in your registry must be damaged.

What Dustyjay suggested is probably going to be the easiest fix, use System Restore.

Have you had a virus infection or used a Registry Cleaner?
