Hi Hope you can help with this

Not very tech savvy so need some simple solutions or guidance as to whether I need to get a new PC or hardware to rectify this fault.

My Pc unexpectedly shut down and I now receive the Oxc00000e9 error \windows\system32\config\system error, saying a file is missing or corrupt

Looking inside the case i noticed that my Video card (geforce 9400) didn't seem to be sitting properly. I put it back in place (same error as above alas)

When trying to boot in safe mode (choosing all five available methods) it just cycles back to the repair screen prompting me to insert a vista recovery disk.

I have borrowed recovery tools on both CD and USB and have changed the initial boot device via CMOS BIOS which I can access!

However the same thing happens when I try to repair (just goes back to the five options)

I can run Mini Windows XP via Hiron's tools disk (hence accessing the internet and these forums through that).

I can see all my files and documents by using another tool on the disc so if the worst comes to the worst I could transfer those over

I have run checkdisk and that shows no errors on my HDD, however I can't seem to get to a command prompt that gets me to the C drive to see if I can try to do a Boot Recovery (is that right?)

Any ideas and assitance would be most gratefully received

    Many Thanks
    Simon

Have you tried borrowing a Vista disc and trying a Startup repair with it.

Sometimes you have to do that 3-4 times for it to work.

I'm having the same problem. I can't get past the limited diagnostic state.

    49er4evr,

You need to start your own thread as it is next to impossible to try and correct two different computers with similar problems in a thread.
