Okay, yesterday I bought myself a new 250GB Hard Drive - Maxtor IDE - Brand new....I hooked it up to my machine and it appears to be working fine, it is detected in the device manager and from the system it looks like the correct drivers are installed.

However, when I open "My Computer" I cannot see it, I then checked the properties - It can populate the Size but in another section I think it says "not initalized"

What do I need to do to be able to see this HDD?

    Thank you in advance.

    Alan

    EDIT:

    Spec - Dell (ish) PC - Pentium 3 - 512Ram - Windows XP Home Edition SP2

Some hard drives need to be initialized with dedicated software before use, I also had this problem with a Seagate Barracuda not too long ago.
