I sincerely hope this is the right forum for this !
These are the conditions as I know them;

Upon any attempt to put the system into "standby" from the start menu, I currently get the following message;

“The device driver for the 'Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard' device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.”

This message once read as follows (with the original KB)

"The device driver for the Easy internet keyboard device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may have to update this driver".

This problem has been with the machine since day one when I started adding my existing hardware to a new computer. Older hardware Underlined items in “Sys Config.” Below.

The original configuration had a standard PS2 KB and the problem appeared sometime during the other hardware installations. There were several driver related problems that I had to solve one at a time, (Printer & Scanner).

The new KB is a USB. The computer recognized the new KB and installed the USB drivers and all works fine except the problem is still with me. I have deleted all traces of the old KB even in the REGISTRY, deleted all the old drivers in the Control Panel/KB, hardware tab, BUT the computer still re-recognizes the PS2, (which “AIN”T” there) and re-installs the drivers. I don’t know if the drivers are required by the USB version but the KB was properly recognized as new hardware when first installed.
Everything works fine except I can’t put the computer in “standby” when I leave for an hour or so.
Hopefully, I have provided enough detail for someone to recognize what the problem might be……..HELP !

System config. AMD 1.1 PROC, ASUS MOBO, 256 Meg PC2100, ATI RADEON COLOR, PLEXTOR 16/10/40A CD-RW, 20G HD, 3.6 G HD, VIEWSONIC P810 MON, HP 5200C SCAN, BJC-5000, MS NATURAL KB (USB), SONY USB MOUSE/MEM STICK READER
