I have Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 running on my server machine. It has an ADSL connection via a router.

The server is connected to a hub, and my client machine is connected to that hub.

I have ISA Firewall Client on my client machine.

I can view the internet from my client machine, but it won't allow me to send or receive emails.

I get messages stating that my POP3 and SMTP accounts cannot be found, but when I set the machine up as a standalone pc, it can send and receive emails, so I know there's not a problem with the ISP.

    Can anyone help???

    Hiya and welcome

Not really a networker, but bumping this up in case others may know.

When you use it as a standalone, are you using the firewall? If not, could it be the firewall rules?
If you are using a firewall on both times, can you post the exact message that you're getting?

    Regards

    eddie

    Thanks for your reply eddie5659.

The problem seems to have changed now! I don't know exactly what I did, but I can now send and receive mail from the client machines!!!

The problem that I have now is that the Client Machine keeps dropping the internet connection.

To restart the connection I go through a process as follows:
    - Disable LAN connection
    - Disable Internet connection
    - Enable Internet Connection
    - Enable LAN connection

This seems to work, but the connection just seems to bomb out when it feels like it.

I looked in the Event Viewer and this message keeps coming out just before the connection bombs out - don't know if its relevant, but here goes:

"The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_(08A90D5B-2476-40B9-9CE9-4C0DF9EBB257) because the Domain Controller (or Server) has changed its role"

    ...what do you reckon?
