Trying to get into safe mode, after selecting it, begins to boot, list comes up on screen but restarts itself.
    Any ideas?

Does it boot in normal mode? Do you have the 4-in-1 drivers installed?

OK. If you don't have the most recent VIA 4-in-1 chipset drivers, you might try those.

You can start here, and then follow the links to the chipset drivers.

After installing that 4in1 driver, I was able to enter Safemode last night, but not this morning, and since it made the system a bit unstable I have since rolled back the driver

Another driver could be involved. Check the biggies, like sound, video, NIC, etc. for updates.
