I am supporting a Windows XP SP2 PC and have the error "the installation source for this product is not available. Please verify that the source exists and that you can access it".
I am the local admin and the domain admin. This error pops up when I try to reinstall Office (Office updates fail) or update QuickBooks or Adobe or any other program on there.

What do I need to do to repair the Windows Installer associations for the sources, without using the Installer Cleanup Utility to uninstall everything and reinstall everything?

Is there anything that can be done short of that?

    Thanks for any help!

The Installer Clean Up is the suggested MS fix; however, you may want to try installing the Windows Installer package.

reinstalling Windows Installer 3.1 and resetting and re-running the QuickBooks updates worked this time, but Office will still not update....I will have to try the Installer Clean Up, since the LISTool didnt work either.

Yea I think you should try installer clean up first then try reinstalling windows installer, that should work for you. Please note down the messages you will get as an error, if any, will be helpful to sort out the problem. ATB
