I have been trying to update my Windows 98 (not SE). What happens is the update gets to about 80 percent and then just hangs. It does not matter which update I'm trying to do it just sits there. The MB numbers flicker rapidly, but the count never goes any higher. For instance it will read 1487/2048Mb. Now, I have done a search on this site and have not found an answer for 98. I have done what others have in ME. I have disabled Norton Anti-virus, ZoneAlarm and ADsubtract. But to no avail, the system just refuses to allow me to update the O/S.

I have searched on Nortons site, MicroSofts site and this site for answers. Anybody have any more recommendations. I have also deleted the temp internet files.
