Every time I try to use my favorites I get this error message.

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
    module WININET.DLL at 0177:702040be.

I can access the net by using shortcuts on my desktop. I can enter an address in the address bar to get to a site. There are even a few sites, namely Sportsline.com where I can enter the site but then get the message when I try to enter my league site.

Have you tried to go to control panel>add/remove and choosing IE and then "repair"?

This problem can often be resolved by emptying the cache: Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Delete files button.

If that doesn't do it, go back to the same Options window and use the "Clear History" button.

If that still doesn't do it, go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup, make sure there are check marks beside Temporary Internet Files and Temporary Files (as well as any others you want), click OK.
