I've got a corrupted file in my CD write folder that I have tried to delete every way I can think of...without success. So every time I log on to the computer a message pops up that says I have files that are ready to be written to a CD. The file and the folder it is contained in are also part of every CD write job I set up since they always in the CD write folder.

Does anyone know how to purge corrupted file from the CD write folder? Not a major problem, but after several months, it is driving me nuts.

Good question, but I believe you should be able to delete it in Safe Mode.

Tap F8 as the PC boots up and select Safe Mode without networking at the prompt.

You get minimal resolution on the screen, and only default drivers but navigating to D: should allow you to delete the file.

If that doesn't work, try renaming it then delete.
If that doesn't work, create another folder, drag and drop the old folder into the new one and delete.
If that doesn't work,go here and get a copy of Move on Boot:
    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html
This little gem will get rid of it and the best thing about it is it's free.

    Thanks, Rude

I was able to delete the file in safe mode. But I'm not sure why that worked. What is the difference between normal and safe modes that allows me to delete a corrupt file in safe mode but not normal mode?

the file was being "accessed" by another program and generaly you cant delete a file being used, but in safe mode, the program accessing that file was never started up so nothing was using your bad file.

I was going to post that exact tip. (y) Same goes with some people that use a P2P program when you try to delete something that, that program is using you will not be able to.

Thanks, guys. I knew that you couldn't delete a file that was being accessed, but had assumed that since the file was corrupted, it wasn't being accessed. But your solution makes perfect sense if that was what was going on. I'm glad there are people smarter than me in this world!
