Hi,

This isn't an old computer. I'm running WinXP SP 2, Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, 3.20 GHz...

I was just chatting away on MSN then my comptuer restarted by itself. I had both my computers switched on at the time, which are connected to the same powerpoint, but only this computer shut down and re-booted.

After the boot, on the desktop I got the good ol' error sign thus stating:

Error signature:

BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : C124027E BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 805D7C16 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

Error Report Contains:

C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERbb96.dir00\Mini050507-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERbb96.dir00\sysdata.xml

This has happened about 4 times in the past 2 months, and I hardly use the computer. What is wrong... what can I do? I've had the computer for only a total of 3 months or so.

Thank you in advance,

Phillip

Hi again - About 8 minutes later my computer restarted again by itself. When I got back to the desktop, the Error Report came up again ..

Error Report Contains:

C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERb989.dir00\Mini050507-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERb989.dir00\sysdata.xml

This time just before it restarted, I was loading a page from upstream.tv to watch a live webcam stream on, which loaded Java. An hour ago, I had updated Java. DOn't know whether it's got anything to do with it, but it might.

Thanks!

Phillip :)

Turn off automatic rebooting

Right-click My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery/Settings.
Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically restart check box

Next time it happens you will get a BSOD with error message which will give us more information about the problem.

Post back all the error message.

Hi, thanks for your prompt reply!

Here's what the BSOD gave:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make.... bla bla bla...

Technical information:

** STOP: 0x0000000A (0xc124027E, 0x00000002, 0x000000000, 0x805D7C16)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

This Stop message is typically due to faulty or incompatible hardware or software.
It`s one of these errors which covers a multitude of sins. :(

I suppose the first thing to suspect is the Java install since you had just done it.
Uninstall it and see if the problem is gone.

Otherwise
1. Have a look in these places for errors

a. Right click My Computer / Properties / Hardware / Device Manager.
Look for "Yellow" errors

b. Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance / Admin Tools / Event Viewer / System.
Look for "Red" errors. Double click on error.
If there are a lot, some of them will be duplicates so just post one of each.
Take a note of the Event ID and also the Source and post them back.

2. Disconnect everything not needed and remove all cards but NOT video card. Run the machine and if the problem is gone connect things one at a time and check to see if problem has returned.

Hi! I un-installed Java but the BSOD came up again. So un-installed JS2 Enviroment, related to Java, and no BSOD's when trying to watch upstream.tv shows. But then I'm requested to download and install Java all over again. I'm going to skip that for now...

I had no Device errors...

I did have however heaps of errors on the Event Manager / System...

I will post them.

I am very worried about removing the cards. I would have to go then to the technician.

Thanks and will post very soon about the errors....

Hi Blackmirror!

Now I have done a system restore to a safe time. Now I don't get any BSOD's, but everytime I try to load that page with the Java material i.e chat, my Firefox just crashes.

What shall I do now? Should I still post those errors?

Cya later, I have to go to bed :p

Thanks in advance,

Phillip

hi philip002,u are having problems due to sbbotdi.sys - the file belongs to a program called speedbit. It is either a graphics acccelator program or a download accelator program.

Try booting into safemode then uninstall the program through control panel>add/remove programs.

here's the attached bugcheck
