Help, I guess, would be the way to start this.

I had to reformat my HDD due to too many 'Cross-linked files' (whatever that means) and have been fighting my computer for about six days (three to off-load 17 Gigs of data, an hour to reformat and reinstall Win98 and three days fo trying to get everything working again).

My primary concern now is that Nero (or any other CD Burning program I've tried) doesn't see my LG Burner (HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8525B) at all; System Properties say it's there, but it lists it as a CD-ROM. This is supposed to be a PnP and I never had problem installing it new last July.

Also not working (and possibly for some strange, same reason) my TV Wonder card and my ethernet are also still off line. I use a simple crossover cable to connect two computers and they use the exact same settings, which they both have now, yet the P400 claims it can't find the Network. The card are matched cards (3COM Etherlink III ISA 3C509b-TPO 10 Base). As to the TV Wonder card, I reinstalled it with the upgraded drivers from ATI and when I try to run it it locks up (ATIMMC Not Responding when I hit Ctrl Alt Del).

I really only care about getting that CD-RW back on line.

My System (such as it is):
    Win 98
    Pentium 400
    AMD-K6 3D + Processor (MMX) 400 MHz
    256K Ram
    Chipset 10B9:1541
    NVidia GeForce 2 MX
    Creative Labs Aaudio PCI CT-4810
    40 GB HDD, Maxtor
Us Robotics 56K Fax INT PnP
DVD ROM LG DVD ROM DRD8160B

I am running an ancient system on an archaic machine. I've never even heard of mobos before (and never needed them in the dozrn other times I've loaded Win98 into various computers).

Thanks, and what are they and what are they for??
