I just removed one program using uninstall of add/remove programs...

    Something happened...

When I wanted to change the installation option of one program...It threw up
a message that the program has been uninstalled....

I immediately restarted the system and went to control panel...programs...
    to remove the program...

To my disgust...I found that many of my installed programs are missing..
The programs are disorganized....and the Uninstall Remove Change buttons on
    the toolbar missing...

I am not able to uninstall or change programs now...

    Solution please..

Do I have to reinstall vista....losing all information???

    Plz suggest a workaround..

well if thats what microsoft said. then i dont think theres a way of fixing it with out reinstall. just back up every thing you want to save. then do it. you can always reinstall what ever programs back on it. that you want.

Windows System Restore does not destroy data, reinstalling OS with formatting does.

I tried to upgrade my existing Vista OS...from the CD using upgrade option..

But it stops after copying files....and says...the installation is not able to restart
    and hence setup aborted.

Shall I revert back to WindowsXp or is there a solution to this..

You cannot upgrade Vista to Vista nor can you reinstall that way. You can repair it using the cd and the repair option towards the bottom of main screen that comes up.

What did you do to fix this problem, or is it still unresolved?
