This seems to be the forum to ask this question, so here goes.
I have had version 7.1 on my win98SE for several months and I think I want to go back to 6.4. It seems that I have read of a few stories where some had difficulty doing this. Any of you care to share any experiences you have had with this? MS Windows Update has this to say about removal of 7.1:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Select Windows Media Player 7.1, and then click Add/Remove to uninstall. (On some versions of Windows, click Change/Remove to uninstall.)
If this is all there is to it, I can easily handle that!! BTW, I still have the 6.4 version in my work folder so the ease of reinstalling it would be no problem. And as always, TIA.

"Wonder what I left out this time that I meant to include in this!!"

Hiya

Thats how I uninstalled it a while back, on my Win98 machine. You will usually have the 6.4 stored in a folder in the c:\program files\windows Media Player

One concern that i vagely remember is that with WMP 7.x MS does some sort of hidden encription with music you recorded on your computer. If you reinstall you cannot access your own songs anymore. My worry here is that reverting back to a previous version would prevent access to the music you have previously recorded. Does someone else remember this or a location of the codes used to limit your copying music i WMP7?

Thanks for your input to my question folks. I just wanted to be sure that were no hidden steps to take or do. I understand that version 6.4 is still on my HD and I have since checked and found it in the folder.
Paul, sorry but I don't recall ever reading or hearing about your question. I wish you luck in finding out and then finding the solution.
