uninstall windows media player?

Hi everyone,

I just bought a laptop with XP (SP2) on it and it has Windows Media Player (version 9.00.00.3344), and although i will be installing media player CLASSIC i really don't want or need WMP.
I have understadn there may be a way to uninstall it.... Can anyone help with this?

Go to Control Panel --> Add Remove Programs, then on the left Add/Remove Windows Components.

At the bottom of this list should be Windows Media Player, uncheck it, then hit Next. :D

That should uninstall it. This is also where you can uninstall things like MSN Explorer and MSN messenger if you didn't want those.
