    Hi all :)

I downloaded Toniarts Easy Cleaner, but don't want it any more.
I tried to do an uninstall via the program and also via My Computer > Add remove programs.
I also deleted the Toniarts folder in My Programs folder and emptied my recycle bin.
A "search" says it's not there, but over the past couple of days, every time I log on to the computer, the Easy Cleaner Install wizard comes up and asks me if I want to modify, install, or remove.
No matter what I click, when I reboot...there it is again  .
Would one of you kind souls please look at my hijack this log and see if you see anything amiss (or any junk I don't need/want) and advise as to what I can do to rid myself of this unwanted program?
It's not urgent, just pesky and puzzling....
    Thanks in advance :)
    Carolyn

Queenie, Install it again and then go to add remove and see if it is there. It should be. Uninstall it from there and it should be gone. :)

If it isn't in add remove then check the program group. It should have an uninstaller somewhere. I have had it and don't remember having any trouble getting rid of it.

Hi and thanks :) Will give it a go.
Did you happen to see anything unusual in my hijack this log?
I can't recall if that's your area of expertise or not
Anyhoo... be back in a while (much later tonight) with my what-happened-when-I-installed-and-then-removed-it results :D

Click Start, click Search, files and folders option and enter:Toniarts Easy Cleaner and delete all files with this name. U can Uninstall Programs Manually with your Registry at: http://www.theeldergeek.com/manually_uninstall_programs.htm I really don't think there is a need for this...

You're not the first person that had this problem, trying to uninstall Toniarts Easy Cleaner.

No Carolyn I don't see any boogers in the log but like you said its not my area. I can keep myself out of malware trouble most of the time.

Post a log in security and someone better suited than I will take a look.;)

Skivvy: I have 3 boys and am all too familiar with what boogers look like :p :D
I'll do as you say, though (y)

Thanks, Kenny :) I'll give that a try if what Skivvy told me to do doesn't work.

    Later

If that don't work do a start, find, files and look up all files pertaining to easycleaner. When you are done scanning, delete all entries. Then go to start, run and type regedit. do a find on easycleaner and delete all entries found. There should be 4 of them.

    OK
I have tried all the solutions suggested above and no joy :(
I found only 2 entries, per giovani's suggestion, that said "easycleaner" and "easy cleaner".
I see no more entries of easy cleaner or Toniarts, anywhere, using regetit or the link Kenny offered.
I am attaching the screen shot of what happens when I restart the computer, and try to install the program again as suggested by Skivvywaver.
Note the disk it is asking for.
I am beyond confused at this point.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Carolyn :)

I did a bit more searching in the forum and here:

    http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?p=2351517#post2351517 post #4

So I went to start > run> msconfig >start up tab (see attached)

There, circled in RED is what, I believe, is the install wizard, that is trying to install the program. I did nothing yet, until someone tells me to unselect that entry.

As an aside, circled in BLUE is quicktime player.
I don't need that in my startup, do I?

See anything else I should unselect in the start up?

I am doing nothing, just yet ;)

    Thanks everyone

    Carolyn :)

Well the two you marked are Quick time and the other is for your vidio card.

    http://www.winpatrol.com/db/dbinfo/nwiz.html?nwiz

    Nvida Wizard - NWIZ.EXE

NWIZ.EXE is the nVidia Wizard that installs with the drivers for recent nVidia graphics cards (starting with their 2002 models).

This program is used to save your custom video settings so they can be re-applied the next time you reboot your system. This program adds functionality we believe to be worthwhile. A few of the available features include creating up to 32 virtual desktops, creating desktops larger than your screen size, zooming, and supporting dual monitors on Desktop and Laptop systems.

For more information and to download the latest versions of these files and all NVidia drivers, visit http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp.

If you don't use any of these cool features, this file can be safely removed.

Good lord Queenie. Have you tried doing a restore to a point before you ripped easycleaner out by the roots?

If you can get the full program back with a restore I am sure we would have better luck. I am going to go download this thing just so I can play with it and see what this deal is all about,

I wonder how my computer hasn't blown up before now, with the little I know and how much more I have to learn about this computer. :)
I am reading Hewee's post and then I remember [IMG] 2 days ago, downloading the MS updates.
All went OK, until the (optional) hardware update, which I selected, as well. I know not why...
    MS updates page message:

The following updates were installed successfully:
The following updates failed to be installed successfully:
Nvidia Corporation - Sound - NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio Codec Interface
Error: There is not enough disk space to install the update(s). Free additional space on your hard disk and then try again.
For more information about the failures, see the View installation history page.

On the installation page I get:

    Installation Failure
    Error Code: 80246002
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following resources.

    For self-help options:

    Windows Update Response Center
    Windows Update Troubleshooter
    Windows Update Newsgroups

and then there is a link for MS online support (no-cost Windows updates issues)

I have not delved any further.
I have attempted this update 3 times over the past 2 days.
Does what is happening on reboot have anything to do with this?

I am gathering, Hewee, that it's OK to unselect QuickTime from the Start up?

Thanks to all of you :)

You left me to my own devices, Skivvy. :p
I don't think much damage was done.
I did create a restore point before all the mucking around. (y)

I promise not to do another thing, for the time-being.
Gosh. I was just tidying up the computer a bit.

    mightyqueenc,
I knew some folks had problems removing easy cleaner. I've never seen anything like this.. Hopefully someone will have an answer. I'll bookmark this one. I know it’s easy for us on the other side of our computer for U to try this and that but, here’s an ideal, is to use a good Registry cleaner to clean your registry of this cat. I recommend RegSeeker for more info visit: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/regseeker.html

If computers get too powerful, we can organize them into a committee that will do them in.

    Thanks, Kenny :)

I do have, and have had for some time now (months maybe?) TweakNow Registry Cleaner, and have scanned
(a few times) and only deleted the items safe to remove. (wisely, me thinks)
Attached is what is always left : the not fully safe to delete and the unknown  .

Am not doing anything but scan...no clicking or selecting or unselecting anything for now ;)

Be back later. Kids' turn on computer (n) :D
