I have recently (today) purchased a unisys laser printer model ap 9310. loaded drivers ok etc but when it prints 3 black lines are also printed on the paper 1st one approx 3 cm from the top of A4 paper the another 2 at a uniform distance of appx 12 cm each. If anyone has any helpful ideas or suggestions I would appreciate the help

    Hi roddy, welcome to TSG.

Did you buy the printer New or Used?

Did you do the test page and run thru the setup procedures?

Thank you, Acacandy, nice to be here, I bought the printer second hand, it printed test page fine (except for those lines!) and will print any document etc I ask(?) it to do. A friend tells me similiar office type printers will print a series of lines on the page when the toner cartridge is about to expire (though he did say vertical lines, mines are horizontal) the machine he uses is from a different manufacturer though, perhaps it is this afterall?

Either that or there are some smear marks on the drum/cartridge while it's turning.......also, without doing research on that particular model, there could be a roller type/long pin thing (sorry for my poor description) that can be taken out and cleaning can be done with it before it will need replaced as well.

If you got the manual when you purchased it, take a look at it for these replaceable items.

Yeah, no manual though but thanks for the suggestions, i'll try replacing the cartridge, unisys's website was about as helpful as an ashtray on a motorbike, but I thought i'd waste an hour on it!

Cats may well be smarter than dogs but i'd like to see the cat that can outhink my doberman in an empty, locked room (I have a cat too)!
