unknown error message

:confused: on some of my internet pages i am receiving this message: "your current security settings prohibit running active x controls on this page. as a result, the page may not display correctly." i then click on the ok and am able to view the page as if the message had never appeared. it doesnt happen on every internet pages - just some of them. this is very annoying and i dont know how to correct this problem. any help appreciated. van

It's due to your Security settings in Internet Options.

This security policy exists for good reason. It prevents computers
becoming infected by spyware, general malware and viruses.

But if it's bothering you that much you can change your settings:

With IE open, go to Tools->Internet Options.
Click on the Security Tab and then hit the "Custom Level" button.
From there, you can set your ActiveX settings.

However, the fact that you are receiving those messages on certain sites is most likely protecting you from some sort of infection.
