I was helping my mate set up MSN live messenger on her compaq laptop running Windows XP media centre and logged into both live messenger and windows messenger with my hotmail address. She has subsequently logged into both with her yahoo address. However, whenever she starts up her pc, the windows sign in screen tells her she has x amount of unread e-mail messages, and refers to my email address. How can she get rid of windows referring to my e-mail address at the startup screen ? She has got the right hump with me for messing up her pc !

Any assistance would be much appreciated

    Thanks in anticipation
    Dawn

I believe you forgot to uncheck the box that says link my MSN ID with my windows login username. The best option would be to sign into both using your hotmail ID once again and then sign out. I dont know if this will work or not. But what happens with Windows is that once it gets the new mail notification on Messenger, it automatically displays it on startup the next time you logon to windows, unless of course if oyu have read the new mail on the previous logon.

That comes when you sign into Messenger for the first time with your passport ID. I am not sure if that is available after that. Check the messenger options though, it might there somewhere.

If any concerns about downloading a file from Kelly's Corner, the site has been around for several years and is trustworthy (not some random site I found).
