unrecognized CD drive

hi every one
I have R30 laptop which I changed the HD from another laptop and it's working OK but on the other laptop the CD is not recognized in the BIO'S,I have tried F2 and del with no joy and help is appreciated

slimline optical drives are configured master/slave by firmware not jumpers, so all drives are not interchangable or compatible

here an example from the leading expert on this kind of issue Liggy

If you need to exchange master to slave on your NEC ND6650A drive, you should try the NEC Bootcode flasher. There is a NEC ND6650A Master bootcode flasher and a NEC ND6650A Slave bootcode flasher

thank you dachew,but my laptop is IBM thinkpad R30 and the HD came out of thinkpad T23,I have formated the diskv on the origina l laptop to transfere it to the other laptop but the CD is not not been recognized in the bio's , Iheard is you have to press F2 or the dell button on start but still not working as I have blank screen with the cursor flashing but you cant do anything

the hard drive is formated and have nothing in the HD but still the CD is not recognized so i can load the OS and the drivers for the R30 ( the HD is recognized in the bio's)

sounds like the cd drive is broken if it was the one that came with that computer?

that would seem to lead to my first suspicion that you thought wasn't relevant

it's incompatible
