Why do I keep getting revolting porn stuff sent to my e-mail address (it's just happened again) - I don't open it as I've heard that you can receive viruses thro these sites, I've got a firewall cd but haven't loaded it yet. I have a 10 year old daughter who checks e-mails sent (she is more computer literate than me!!) and some of the wording is just plain disgusting - I'm no prude, but it is totally unacceptable that she can see this sort of thing.

Can anyone suggest how to remove mailings or whatever is causing this problem.

    Heaps big thanks.

What email are you using? Best bet for OE would be to set up message rules and start blocking them as they come in. Same for AOL. It is more difficult to stop this sort of thing with AOL since your profile is listed for all to view and you dont have the option of it not being posted. In OE just click on help and look up message rules and blocking. It should walk you through it pretty well.

I solved that problem. All you have to do is just set it up to delete all mail from people not in your address book. I use to get about 40 emails a day, turned it on, and get no mail now, and haven't for a month now.:D :D :D

You can just add the email addresses of those you want email from and it won't delete those, just ones that aren't listed in your address book. Make sure you choose to automatically delete them too, or it will just leave them in your trash folder, and she could go in there and still read them.

To set it up go under,

    options
junk mail box, click exclusive then ok.
junk mail deletion, click automatic then ok.
Then go to address book, and create one for each person you want to receive mail from. If you don't know their email, you can always just set it up to just put it in the trash folder, or just filter by subject, but I have found that function to not work like it should.

    Hello jimi

Go to Message Rules>Blocked Senders List, type in the e-mail senders you want blocked. These e-mails will then be sent to the deleted items folder. To delete these automatically go to Options>Maintenance, then check "Empty messages from the 'Deleted' items folder on exit and "Purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP folders". This should work - especially when you close down.

    Regards

How do you receive your hotmail emails? Is it through outlook express or do you actually go to hotmails website and login to your account that way? The easiest thing to do is abandon your free hotmail account and create a new one.

Yep, thro Hotmails website. If I create new I assume I have to notify all those I want to contact me.

How does all that stuff get to me in the first place?
