Hi, I am not particularly tech savvy and I'm trying to export contacts from an outdated Customer Management program into a csv file so I can upload them into a more current program. You can only export them into an ASCII format and I have no idea how to sort it out in excel. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

Is this by chance a "Delimited text file"?
If so it will a comma between each entry of the contact. Each contact will be on a separate line.

This will be a plain text fine that can be opened in any plane text editor.

It may be helpful if you were to post an small file as an attachment?

If you output the file you can then view it with a free program called FreeFileViewer that can read just about any file.
It will show you how the file is structured which will assist you in doing as DaveA suggests.
