    Hi everyone,
I have Win98 and IE6. I have inherited a very unsavoury web page as my home page and I cannot get rid of it. I reset the homepage to yahoo or similar but every time I boot up this other home page (porn)is loaded. I have tried deleting it and searching for it. The search said it was in temp internet files so I deleted it but still it comes back every time I start up. Very frustrating. Please help.
    Regards
    Ray.

search for it in your registry

Go to Start, Run, type in regedit and hit enter

Press F3 and type in your search parameter (the web address) and press Enter. After you find the first reference, pressing F3 again will search for the next reference it finds. delete every reference of the offending url you find.

You should find your home page settings at the following keys

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page
    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page

    Guys,
Many thanks for your swift replies. I am working the night shift so will have to wait till I am off to try the many suggested fixes for what seems to be a common problem. I should have searched more thoroughly before postintg. Anyway thanks again and I wuill post my results in a few days time.
