I have Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit

Recently when starting up 2 pop up windows appear:

One is Performance Options - Advanced
Processor scheduling - adjust for best performance
    o Programs o Background services

This comes up each time and I always just click ok

Any idea how I stop getting this ?

Also get another at the same time from AVG Installer Application asking if I want the following program to make changes to this computer

Again, as far as I am aware I don't have AVG.

    Help

    Thanks
    Rob

    dukevyner,

I've edited your post as you are not authorized to give malware removal instructions.

they did the same thing as me

    or "flavallee"
    http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/1063723-too-many-processes-task-manager.html

    Or
    "Phantom010"
    http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/1064238-very-slow-computer-performance-desperate.html

None of them are malware removal specialists and they all make the same suggestions as me

We can't see all instances and if they're not reported to us then they may slide by. That's why it's important for members to report things to the moderators.

Flavallee and Phantom010 are Trusted Advisors and as such have more leeway to make those types of suggestions. This is all explained on the rules page.

If you want to discuss this further then please do so privately as it's not appropriate to do so in the public forums and particularly in a thread where someone is seeking assistance where it's disruptive and irrelevant to the issue at hand.

Please use the TSG System Info tool to let Tech's know the specs of your computer: http://static.techguy.org/download/SysInfo.exe Copy and paste the results here in your thread.
Also, if its a brand name system like an Acer,Dell or HP, please post the exact model of the system.

    Rob:

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Write down ONLY the names in the "Startup Item" column that have a checkmark next to them.

If the "Startup Item" column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen the column.

Submit those names here in a vertical list.

Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.

    -------------------------------------------------------

Go to Control Panel - Programs And Features.

Is anything associated with AVG in the list?

You didn't answer the question in post #7.

    -----------------------------------------------------

These startup entries can be unchecked:

    Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager

    Intel Common User Interface

    Intel Common User Interface

    Intel Common User Interface

    Hewlett Packard HPWSCHD

    DXDllREGEXE

    HD Audiocpl

    Groovemonitor Utility

    Cyberlink Medialibrary Service

    Lightscribe
    - unless you're actually using LightScribe to burn labels on discs

    Software Manager

    Google Toolbar Notifier

    After you're done, click Apply - OK/Close - Restart.

    -----------------------------------------------------

There's no evidence of AVG in the startup list.

What are you using in that computer to combat viruses, malware, spyware, etc.?

Go here and click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save HiJackThis 2.0.4

After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then double-click the saved file to install it.

Allow it to install in its default location - C:\Program Files.

After it's been installed, start it and allow its main window to load.

Uncheck "Do not show this window when I start HiJackThis".

Click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

When the scan is finished in 30 - 60 seconds, a log file will appear.

    Save that log file.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE log file here.
