I'm not so sure you should be getting rid of it. I found this description of it at Microsoft's support site:

Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that are run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). The Svchost.exe file is located in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder. At startup, Svchost.exe checks the services portion of the registry to construct a list of services that it needs to load. There can be multiple instances of Svchost.exe running at the same time. Each Svchost.exe session can contain a grouping of services, so that separate services can be run depending on how and where Svchost.exe is started. This allows for better control and debugging.

Here's a link to the complete article:

I end it all the time and nothing happens. I think it's got to do with Nortons internet security.

It says network service and Im not even on a network!

Windows needs svchost to do it's job. Leave it alone and focus your attention on something more productive. You will only cause yourself problems by trying to get rid of it.

"It says network service and Im not even on a network!"

When you connect to the internet, you're on a network.

When I connect to the internet Im on the internet, when I connect to a network I'm on a Network.

Besides, when I disable it nothing happens even when I'm on the net. That means that my system does'nt need it!
