I have often wondered if this is the way to go to update a driver VIA device manager.
Don't select install automatically instead select "Don't search I will choose
the driver to install. Usually one is found but when selecting "install automatically
I have never had an updated driver found.

usually if I don't have the disk, I just go to http://www.pcidatabase.com/ and find it there...about the only time that site has let me down was an ancient dell lapper with some archaic sound driver.

Thanks for the quick reply and I will follow your advice.
So your answer is not to go the route I laid out to install a driver VIA device manager?

well, like you, i've not had the greatest luck updating drivers through windows natively.......generally what I do is just make certain I have the right network drivers to get to the internet (only had to screw that up once to remember never to do that again) and then I just hit that pci database list, get the driver details, and away I go.
