    First Name:
Click the Windows Update/Microsoft Update entry in the Start menu - or - load an Internet Explorer webpage, then click Tools - Windows Update.

When the site loads, select the custom scan.

There will be numerous high-priority updates to select and install.

After they install and the computer is restarted, do another custom scan.

Select and install any additional high-priority updates that appear.

Note: Be careful about which optional software and hardware updates you select and install because all of them are not needed.

Note: If that computer has been off-line for 2 years, there will be several programs and extras that will also need to be updated.
