Upgrade cpu on laptop

Yes, say if you have a 1.6GHz Pentium M, you can upgrade it to a 2.0GHz Pentium M.

yeah because the new CPU you get has to be compliant to the motherboard your notebook has, so the same socket as your current CPU

yeah im trying to upgrade my amd sempron laptop cpu with a a 754 socket amd 64 bit proscceor

You need to check with the manufacturer that the BIOS will support/recognise the higher spec.

idk if the 64 bit CPU will work with your current motherboard because it was an older 32-bit...youll have to check that out.

#1- you are upgrading from Sempron to Athlon
#2- you are upgrading from 32 bit to 64 bit
I highly doubt you will be able to upgrade to an Athlon, better yet a 64 bit processor. You can check with the manufacturer, but you may find out that you will be stuck with a Sempron.
