hi, is there any one who could help? i have recently purchased windows xp, but am having major problems with it. the upgrade option is not available to me and i cant understand why. I have tried to upgrade from windows 98 and it wont give me an option, its the same when i try it from windows me. it just goes automatically to full install which is no good as it hasn't got the drivers for my modem. therefore i cant intsall my modem, cant even get on the internet to get them. any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

Download the modem drivers before you install Windows XP. Then install XP and load the drivers.

Did you purchase the upgrade version of Windows XP or the full version? I don't think it's possible to perform an upgrade with a full version.

uh you can upgrade using a full version cd. try this, instead of running the setup program, open up the win xp cd, and navigate to the i386 directory and find the program file Winnt32.exe. run this and it should ask you whether or not you want to upgrade or do full install. if not, download the hcl-compliant drivers for the modem, and install xp and use the migrate wizard. the migrate wizard will keep your settings. if this doesn't work, check your upgrade availability via the upgrade advisor. if none of this works, just give up, buy an xp-compliant modem and install that. good luck!
