Upgrade Speed Differences

    Why is it that since i have upgraded my operating system to xp from 98 it is slower than my friends that is the same brand and came with xp on it we both use less than 20% of our hard drive what could i buy (sortware/hardware)to make my computer as fast as my friends.

    Well, I always recommend a clean install over an upgrade, you don't bring all the older O/S baggage with you that way.

    Not only that, but just because both computers are the same brand, doesn't mean they're the same system...
    Do a dxdiag, and save all the info to a text file, then c/p here, let's see what you've got
