I don't want to buy a new computer, but I would like to upgrade the processor on this one. I'm running an AMD Athlon 900MHz.

Does anyone know what I need to know in order to upgrade to a 1.5+ GHz processor? How do I find out what is compatible with what I have and would work?

    Hi,
For starters..what brand/model is your motherboard? Look within your manual for possible listing of supported processor speeds...what type of PS are you using? You may need a more powerful one

You gotta go to your motherboard's site and check the specs for your model. There will probably be a BIOS update involved, so you have to find out which version you are running now. If the board is a few years old, probably the highest you could go will be 1.2 Athlon.
