    I have a copy of vista ultimate, i think its 32 maybe 64
    I backed up all my stuff n im redy to format and all tha other crap. Can someone please remind me the steps to deleting xp and putting vista, or maybe upgrade it. I remeber you gotta make some sorta partition, ehh its blurry.

    Boot to the dvd by making sure the dvd drive is booting 1st or 2nd drive and before the hard drive. The cds does it all as you choose full install. The cd will aprtition and format the drive and save your Windows folder ( as Windows Old) and any other folders on the new hard drive.

    So do I need to go to bios and select 'boot from cd' or should I just insert the cd into the drive and start it up.

    You need to change the boot order where the cd or dvd drive boots before the hard drive.

    I fnd easiest way is to boot into XP, then put in the Vista disk and let it autorun. does everything for you :)
