So today I upgraded to Vista from XP. Every thing has run smoothly except I am having monitor resolution problems. I have a 17' Polaroid widescreen lcd tv that i double as my monitor. Vista doesn't recognize my monitor's resolution like XP did. Vista shows my monitor as a Generic PnP monitor and I can't change my resolution to anything higher than 640x480. I have tried updating my drivers and nothing works. Anyone know how I can fix this?

not sure where to put this so i put it in Vista forum too

    Hi there,

First of all, I'd recommend uninstalling both the video drivers and the monitor drivers and reinstall them in that order. if that still does not work, it may be possible that Vista is detecting your monitor as a low-resolution television, which is common for LCD TVs and Vista. So far, there is no solution for that that i know of. I'd try running Windows Update to see if Microsoft made a fix for it yet.

    Hope this helps.
