You can just install IE 5.5 SP2. There's no need to goto 5.5 and then install 5.5 SP2. But if your not having any problems with IE 5.01 SP2, I'd suggest just leaving it alone and forget what the ISP techs are telling you. The majority of the techs that you speak to at level one support haven't a clue what they're talking about anyway. If you were still running IE 3 or IE 4 then I could see their point but IE 5.5 and IE 6 really didn't change much from IE 5.01 SP2. The internal workings of the browser have basically stayed the same. The only real changes made have been mainly cosmetic. And any security problems were addressed by SP2 or patchs at the WindowsUpdate Site so there's no need to worry about falling behind on security. Personally I'm still running IE 5.01 SP2 because I've found it to be the most stable release of IE that MS has produced.
