upgrading pc please advise

    Hi there all i have a P5LD2 SE motherboard i would like to upgrade my cpu with 2 gig ram i will be upgrading the board in 2 two weeks
    to either one of the the two please help me decide what cpu to go for
    Im not a gamer just very photoshop & premiere user.

    Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,rev.B2) 2.01G


    Core 2 Extreme X6800(2.93GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,revB2) 2.01G

    hi there again sorry for the mistake i wish to upgrade to either of these two which one should i go for with P5LD2 SE motherboard

    INTEL DualCore E6300 2.8GHz 2MB 1066FSB LGA775

    INTEL CORE2DUO E7500 2.93GHz 3MB 1066FSB LGA775

    Kind of confusing...

    You have the ASUS P5LD2 SE board now and you're upgrading to something else, or are you upgrading TO the P5LD2 SE? This board is rather old... as well as these CPUs. As long as those parts are on the cheap (About $100). Off the top of my head, I don't think the E6300 is is 2.8Ghz The 6600 = 2.4, 6700 = 2.66 and 6300 is 2.1 (I'm going by memory).

    The 945 is kind of old... and may not support the E7500, which is a newer chip... Besides the 945 has memory limitations. You may check with ASUS to see if there is a BIOS update.

    You sould look at a P45 board for a Core2 class CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...4&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&Order=PRICE

    Then use 800 or 1066Mhz memory.
