upgrading pc

    was wondering if anyone could tell me, if it is possible to upgrade from an amd athlon 1200 ghz, to a pentium 4 2.0 ghz, is the chip the same? will it fit?

    Unfortunately, no, they're not interchangeable. To see what CPU options you do have, you'll want to determine what make & model of motherboard you have, then visit the manufacturer's web site, where they usually have all such details.

    The answer is no.

    What mobo are you using. I'm sure we can tell you what the max cpu speed it will take.

    this mob is a pc ddr/266 system board, socket a m817 series

    You have a PCChips M817 mobo which can run on SDR or DDR memory. It will take 266mhz amd cpus.

    Can't find any reviews stating that it will run a cpu over 1200mhz.

    I'll do some more research and check back w/ you.

    Ok, just found out that if your mobo is a M817LMR ver 1.5, you can use the AMD Athlon cpus up to XP2000+ but will need to flash your bios w/ a newer bios.
