I got a new computer case for xmas. I thought i would be able to build into new case myself so got to work, I put it all in and then got to the pins, (sw power, Led, etc) i guessed where to put them (yes i no im an idiot) and plugged it in. As i turned on the power at the wall the cpu fan started going, i dont no if this is normal or noT! When i tried to turn it on at the front button none of the light came on and i didnt hear any bleeping sounds that i usually get. I have not plugged it into the monitor yet as cleary there is somthing not right. I have a gigabyte ga-8i915pm motherboard and dont know where to put the pins, also i do not no still why the cpu pan turns even when its only on at the wall!! PLEASE HELP IM A NOOB!!! HAVE I RUINED MY SYSTEM!!?!?!?

Some motherboard/power supply combinations will turn on when you plug the PSU into the wall. They aren't suppose to... but they do. If you press the power switch for at least 5 seconds, does it turn off? And then turn on normally with the power switch thereafter? If not, I would disconnect all of the case wires from the header (power LED, reset switch, HD LED, speaker) and get the PC to start with only the power switch connected).
